Configuring an IPSec VPN gateway to access a VPN network

This section explains configuring a persistent IPSec tunnel connection (gateway) to one or more subnets on a Service Provider’s VPN network. For an overview, see GPRS connectivity options. This IPSec VPN gateway provides a transparent, secure, network layer between hosts on the customer’s network and GPRS modem equipped-JACEs on the Service Provider’s network.

NoteThis is an advanced topic. It is recommended that configuration be done only by a knowledgeable IT professional working in cooperation with the Service Provider. Note that this section ends with a configuration example using Wyless as the Service Provider, and is specific to one piece of hardware (a Linksys RVL200 router) configured as the IPSec VPN gateway.NAT transversal (Network Address Translation) is beyond the scope of this document.
