XL15C Analog Outputs

Description

The XL15C controller has 6 Analog Outputs.

Analog Outputs are used to control variably driven controller devices, such as damper actuators, valve actuators, variable speed fans, step controllers and other transducers. The analog outputs are 4-20 mA current outputs (max. load 600 ohms) with a 7+ bit resolution.

Each Analog output may be configured as Analog or Digital. Analog outputs configured as Analog can drive an analog load and one configured as Digital can drive a digital load.

Purpose

Configure an analog output to match the output device and the control algorithm.

Mode

Off-line or On-line.

Limits

The analog outputs can be configured as digital outputs, however, the digital load must not exceed the 500 ohm maximum.

Procedure

  1. Expand the XL15C folder in the palette.
  2. Drag the AnalogOut item onto the wiresheet on the right side of the screen.
  3. By default, the Analog Output object is displayed with the Point Name, Status, and Point ID. There can be a maximum of 6 analog outputs. Anymore analog outputs dropped on to the wiresheet will indicate status as Fault.
  4. Right-click the box and select Config to display the AnalogOut dialog.
  5. Select the desired analog input from the Input Kind field.

The input kind must be one of the following types for an analog output:

  1. Enter desired output values for 0% & 100% output from the control loop.
  2. Click OK to save the settings or Cancel to revert to the last saved settings.

Fields

Name Definition
Input Kind Select one of the following analog output types:
  • Unconfigured (default)
  • Analog
  • Digital
Output Value The 0% and 100% edit boxes contain the values which represent the allowable range of current output. The maximum range is from 0mA to 20 mA.
