Changing user password

Starting with Niagara 4.14, Admin users have two options: a new Update Password action and a password field editor. For non-admin users, direct password entering is restricted. If you know the current Password, you can modify it using the new action Update Password.
Prerequisites: You are connected to Workbench and station is running.
Perform the following steps:
  1. For non-admin users, expand Config > Services > UserService, right-click on the user that you want to edit and choose Property Sheet from the Views menu.
    The Property Sheet opens.

  2. To use the action, do one of the following.
    • Expand user and right-click on Authenticator > Actions > Update password
    • In the Property Sheet, right-click on the Authenticator > Actions > Update Password.
    The Update Password window opens.

  3. Enter the Current Password first followed by the new one, confirm it, then click OK.
    The password is successfully updated.
     NOTE: In the Update Password action, If the user enters incorrect password five times in 60 seconds, the action is locked for 5 minutes and an error message appears.

    These parameters are default and you can change the parameters in the system properties. 
  4. For admin users, do one of the following.
    1. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to use the Update password action.
    2. To use the password filed editor, in the Authenticator property, enter the new Password and confirm it.
    The password updated successfully.
