This procedure sets up a single card reader with a keypad to use for arming and disarming an intrusion zone. Assigning a reader
to a single zone is advised. If the reader is assigned to multiple zones, and one of the zones fails to arm, the person attempting
to arm the building will not know which zone did not arm.
Prerequisites: Your card reader has connections for LED and beeper control, and is connected to an R2R module on a host controller.
Your PC is connected to the station of a remote host controller.
Add the reader at the module level. This reader may not be used to lock and unlock a door. Do not associate it with a door.
The beeper and LED provide feedback to let the user know if the intrusion zone is armed or disarmed.
Perform the following steps:
- To add the reader to the database, click , click the Manage Devices button (
), to add, respond to the prompts.
- To assign the reader to the intrusion zone, click .
- Add the reader to the intrusion zone.
- If needed add a PIN to the intrusion zone.
- To arm the zone, enter the PIN followed by #.
The system arms the zone after the delay period set up in the zone. The zone will not arm if it is not secure (a door is open).
- If the zone does not arm, clear the issue and try again.
- To disarm the zone, enter the PIN.
