Importing the root certificate into the Java Control Panel

Importing the root certificate into the JAVA Control Panel is necessary to use Java WebStart. Disclaimer: this software may function differently from what is described here.
Prerequisites: You are working in Windows on a PC. Your root certificate is available either in the User Home folder or on a thumb drive.
  1. Click the Windows Start button and open the Windows Control Panel.
  2. In the All Control Panel Items list, double-click Java.
    The Java Control Panel opens.
  3. Select the Security tab, and click Manage Certificates (lower-right).
  4. If necessary, select Trusted Certificates from the drop-down list.
  5. To add the new root certificate, click Import, navigate to the root certificate, select it, and click Open.
    The certificate appears in the list.
  6. To complete the import, click Close and OK.
