Discovering and adding access control modules

This procedure documents how to discover and add to the station database access control modules that are connected to an RS-485 serial bus.
Prerequisites: You are working in a controller’s web UI.
  1. Navigate to Controller Setup > Remote Devices > Remote Modules > Remote Module Setup.
  2. Click Discover (Image).
    The discovery process displays the discovered modules in the lower Discovered pane.
  3. Select each individual module and click Add (Image).
    The system adds the device to the station database.
  4. You can rename the module as you add it to the database and click OK.
  5. To verify that the device is online, right-click it in the Database pane and click Wink Device or select it and click Wink (Image).
    The device responds.
  6. Instead of discovering modules, you can add each one individually by clicking Manage Devices (Image), selecting Add and clicking OK, selecting the type of device to add and clicking OK, giving the device a name and clicking OK,
  7. For each module, compare its firmware Installed Version and Available Version columns in the table.
  8. If a more recent firmware version is available, select the module, click Upgrade Firmware (Image), verify that the version successfully updated, and click OK.
  9. To save the station, click Controller Setup > Miscellaneous > Controller Maintenance > Save Station
