Creating a badge template

Creating a template verifies that the Asure ID installation was successful. You create a template using Asure ID running on the Photo ID workstation. Later, you user the Photo ID Network to discover the templates and make them available to the security station.
Prerequisites: You are working on the Photo ID workstation.
  1. To open Asure ID, launch it from the Windows Start menu.
    The default user ID is admin; the default password is admin.
  2. If this is the first time you are using this software, change the Asure ID password by clicking the Advanced bar in the Applications pane on the left, click User Config, click Change Password, enter and confirm a strong password, and click OK.
  3. To create a template, click File > New Template, configure the layout options or select from the Sample Gallery and click OK.
  4. To add text, click Home and use the Text functions.
  5. To add a property from the system database, select Data Field and click on the visual representation of the card.
    The Data Field Properties window opens.

    For example: LastName, FirstName, Image, etc. Every property you create in the badge template must be present in the system database for it to be printed on the badge.

  6. For Field Name, use names that correspond to properties in the system database, configure additional properties and click OK.
  7. To add the photo, click the Photo button in the Imaging section.

  8. Select .jpg or .png as the Format type.
    Even though Asure ID supports several formats, the system supports only .jpg and .png.
  9. Make a note of the width and height of the photo in the Placement section of the Photo Properties window and click OK.
    You will need this information when you import and crop photos.

    The default ratio for a Photo ID is 3:4 (width: height).
  10. After adding fields and moving them around as needed, save the template by clicking File > Save Template.
